Todays post is going to be about biggest blogging mistakes, which I'm certain we have all done one of more of these in our blogging time. This post is designed to help you make your blog the best it can be. As this is part of my Friday Blogging Tips Series, you can find my other blogging tips posts here.
For me inconstancy is one of the biggest mistakes people can make as a blogger. Inconsistency means your readers won't know when to expect a spot from you and will be less likely to re visit your blog as they won't know when to expect posts from you.
2) Poor Grammar & Punctuation
If you have poor grammar and punctuation in your blog posts your reader wont take you seriously or trust your posts as it will look as though you don't care enough to not make sloppy mistakes. Don't get me wrong the odd mistake is bound to be missed and thats fine it the constant mistakes that make your blog look sloppy and careless.
3) Not Engaging With Your Audience
Engaging with your readers is so important as it helps you grow a loyal following. Make sure you are asking your reader questions in your blog posts and always respond to comments!
4) Labels Are NOT HashtagsThis has got to be one of the most common mistakes I see bloggers making, I'm certain we have all made this mistake at some point. A lot of bloggers are mistaking the label section of the posts for hashtags. Labels don't improve your chance of someone stumbling upon your blog like a hashtag does on Instagram. Labels are used for sorting your posts into section or pages. E.g. My blogging tips posts have the label 'Blogging Tips' which allows the specific posts to be added to the correct category/page on my blog.
5) Stop Link Dumping!
This is by far the most annoying 'mistake' bloggers make. I see this again mainly in new bloggers and I'm sure we have all done this and thats commenting with things like, 'love your blog check mine out'. on peoples blog posts. These type of comments are incredibly irritating as its almost certain that those people haven't even read your post yet they expect you to 'check out their blog'. Adding your link to the bottom of a genuine comment is fine, infant I welcome it but don't just dump you links!
