My Manicure Routine

Hiya Lovelies!

I hope you're all having a good week so far, today I wanted to share with you my manicure routine. I have always been a lover of painting my nails as for me it is so therapeutic and satisfying as I can relax with Netflix and a cup of teas whilst doing my nails.

As you can see I use a fair few products for my manicures, I use Nail files, cuticle removers, nail polish removers, base coats, top coats, colour you name it (I know its excessive)

Firstly please excuse my slightly discoloured nails and chubby fingers. I never don't have polish on my nails which does discolour them Anyway...The first step I like to take is to prep my nails, so I will remove any polish already on my nails and then use my Sally Hansen cuticle remover. Tip: Don't ever cut your cuticles as they will grow back much harder. I leave my cuticle remover to sit on my nails for about 20 seconds and then use a cuticle pusher to push them back neatly, this will allow your nail polish to apply as smooth as possible. I will then apply a base coat all over my nails to protect them, this also helps with nail polish application.

After the top coat has dried, I will then use my colour of choice it paint my nails. Don't worry if you're messy with the application as you can clean it up afterwards. I like to dip my nail polish brush into the bottle and swipe one side against the neck of the bottle so you don't have too much product on your brush. I then like to start from the middle of my nail and work my way out. Try not to get any polish on your cuticles as it can be a pain to get off. I will normally do two coats of polish so I know it will be super opaque.

Once I have finished with the colour polish I will then use Acetone and a small brush to clean up any mistakes made. I like to use small and short swiping motions for their process as I have found it to be most affective. I will also follow the same process for the section between the cuticle and colour so you have a straight neat line making it look more professional. I will then take my top coat and apply it the same way as the colour polish but making sure I 'wrap' my edges, which is simply applying polish to the tips of my nails to prevent chipping. I like to do a relatively thick layer of top coat as it makes my nails look shiny for longer. Finally after the polish has dried I will apply a decent amount of cuticle oil around the entire perimeter of my nails to ensure my cuticles are soft and moisturised. I like to apply cuticle oil several times a day to keep them soft and moisturised.

What is your favourite colour to wear on your nails?

  2. Great post, I have massively neglected my nails lately, I rock climb and they get ruined within seconds. I do miss having painted nails though!

    1. I'm glad you liked the post lovely! I watch nail videos on YouTube which always leaked me want to do my nails haha! Looking after your nails is definitely worth it as it only take a few minutes to apply cuticle oil throughout the day. Rimmel polishes are some of the best drugstore polishes I have used! I've never tried the super gel ones but I really want to! -xo

  4. I love that color! Right now I'm liking more light colors on my nails. But I just did a color like this with sparkles on top so I over did it a little haha! Love the post! :)
