Whats In My Hospital Bag

Hello Loves!

In todays post I thought I would share with you what I am going to be taking with me when I go in to have my baby boy. Packing your hospital bag (for me at least) has been super exciting as it means baby boys arrival is getting close! I have read so many posts and watched so many videos of other peoples hospital bags since as a first time mum I have no Idea what to expect. I have probably over packed however I would much prefer to have too much than not enough!

I am going for comfort whilst I am in the hospital especially since I am hoping for a hypnobirth, comfort will be vital for me to stay cool, calm and collective.

  • Pyjamas
  • slippers & dressing gown (I went for these pretty blue with clouds since I'm having a boy!)
  • Bridget Jonses...I decided to get so big knickers since you bleed lots after giving birth meaning I will be using those huge maternity pads. I also wanted them to be high rise in-case I need a section.
  • Socks
  • Breastfeeding bra
I will also be bringing a couple changes of clothes but I will pack those the day before I go in to hospital. I am being induced at 37 weeks so I know when I am going into the hospital which is helping me be more prepared for sure!

I have used wash bags from Primark to section the different things in my hospital bag to make access easier for my birthing partners. I will also be taking a makeup bag which some might think is not necessary however I want to feel and look as good as I possibly can.

  • Makeup Wipes
  • Roll On Deodorant
  • Face wash & Flannel
  • Body Wash
  • Flip Flops for showering
  • Dry Shampoo
  • Moisturiser
  • Toothbrush, Toothpaste & Mouthwash
  • Hair Brush & Hair Ties
  • Lip Balm
  • Mints & Gum
  • Glucose Tabs for energy during labour
  • Breast Pads & Nipple Cream (I do plan on Breast feeding)

I have packed some electrical items for entertainment, since I am getting induced I don't know how long it will take for things to get going and then I don't know how long I will be in the hospital for since my baby is measuring small there is a slight chance I could be in hospital longer if he needs extra help.

  • Phone Charger
  • Kindle Charger
  • Plug
  • Kindle
I might also bring my laptop to use Netflix etc but I haven't decided on that one yet!

Now on to the things I have packed for baby boy...I have tried to not go overboard with packing for the baby, I did actually have to re pack his things twice as the other times I packed way too much!

  • Blanket & Swaddle Muslin
  • Dummy / Pacifier
  • Tiny Baby Outfits x3
  • Newborn Outfits x2
  • Hats x2
  • Scratch Mitts x1 (his sleep suits have scratch mitts built in)
  • Teddy For Pictures

The more 'boring' items I tried to keep to a minimum as I am hoping we wont have to stay in the hospital too long. I will also be bringing his carseat, his baby book and also a little plaque for photo purposes. (I haven't taken photos of those items as the plaque has his name on it).

  • Pack of nappies / I have gone for the kit & kin in size 0 because they are just too cute!
  • Water Wipes
  • Sudocrem (I know I most likely won't need this but Just in case...)
  • Milton Sterilising Wipes as hospitals are gross
  • Another Dummy
  • Pre made formula, I am planning on breastfeeding however I have brought these for the 'just in case' situation. Obviously breast is best however sometimes it doesn't work out and for that reason I would rather have a back up plan in place so my baby doesn't go hungry.

And that it! Well, I plan on packing some snacks etc also but they would be demolished if I bought them too early haha! I am also going to pack an additional bag for if we have to stay longer than planned so whoever goes to get me and baby more things, they don't have to worry about what to pick up as the bag will be by the front door ready to go! (This is something my sister recommended as she wishes she had done this).

Let me know if you think I have missed anything or if you have any other suggestions!
